Reaching out for help is an act of strength; finding the right place to begin should not be another obstacle. You may not know how to start, what kind of support you need, or how to identify it. It’s okay to feel lost. As a Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, I work to make those first steps feel less overwhelming. I support prospective clients through intake calls, answer questions about in-network and out-of-network benefits, conduct intake interviews, and help connect clients with a clinician on the Mid-Atlantic Psychotherapy team who may be a good fit.
I also work to connect Mid-Atlantic Psychotherapy with the community through mental health resources, community events, education and outreach. My goal is to make mental health care more accessible and easier, so that you can spend more time focusing on your health and
well-being.
My approach to this work is shaped by the values that are important to me: compassion, inclusion, education, and uplifting others. My experience as a social work student has also strengthened my belief that mental health care should be accessible to everyone, while also recognizing that financial, social, cultural, and systemic barriers can make it difficult for people to access that care. As a community-facing social work intern, I want to help people feel informed and supported while they navigate their care options.
Quiet the mind and the soul will speak.

Experience
Ella is a graduate level intern and Master of Social Work student at Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Japanese Language. During her undergraduate studies, she volunteered with the Crisis Text
Line, where she supported people experiencing emotional distress, including suicidal ideation, and people who did not have access to mental health support. This experience opened her eyes to how many people struggle with mental pain daily and don’t have helpful resources to work through it. This has strengthened her intention to work with people suffering from mental pain and to help find ways to make mental health support more accessible.
